Aim & Scope

Biology has become a technology. The tools that let us read and edit genomes, grow tissues and engineer microbes are moving quickly from the laboratory into medicine, farming, industry and the environment. The Indo-American Journal of Life Sciences and Biotechnology (IAJLB) publishes research across the life sciences and the biotechnologies built on them.

We welcome careful work at every scale, from molecules and cells to organisms and ecosystems, and we particularly value studies that are reproducible and that point clearly towards a practical use.

Scope

IAJLB publishes original research articles, review articles, case reports and short communications in areas including, but not limited to:

  • Molecular biology, genetics and genomics
  • Cell biology and developmental biology
  • Microbiology and microbial biotechnology
  • Biochemistry and structural biology
  • Plant biotechnology and crop improvement
  • Animal biotechnology and veterinary biosciences
  • Medical and pharmaceutical biotechnology
  • Immunology and vaccine development
  • Genetic engineering, CRISPR and synthetic biology
  • Bioinformatics, computational and systems biology
  • Bioprocess engineering, fermentation and enzyme technology
  • Environmental biotechnology and bioremediation
  • Food biotechnology and nutrition science
  • Ecology, biodiversity and conservation biology
  • Biosafety, bioethics and regulation of biotechnology

Peer Review

Every submission goes through double-blind peer review by at least two independent reviewers with expertise in the subject. The usual time from submission to first editorial decision is 12–14 weeks. See the Peer Review Policy for details.

Originality

All manuscripts are screened for similarity with iThenticate before they go to reviewers, as set out in the Plagiarism Policy.

Open Access and Licensing

IAJLB is fully open access. Authors keep the copyright in their work, which is published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

Article Processing Charges

An Article Processing Charge applies only after acceptance, set by the corresponding author's country income level and the article type. Full waivers are available for authors from low-income countries, for genuine financial hardship, and for unfunded students and early-career researchers. See Article Processing Charges.
