Materials for Pharmaceutical Dosage Forms: Aspects of Controlled Release Drug Delivery and Molecular Pharmaceutics
Keywords:
pharmaceutical dosage forms, copolymers, biomaterials, biodegradableAbstract
Compared to immediate release distribution, controlled release delivery has several benefits (such as microparticles and nanoparticles) and is accessible for a variety of administration methods. These benefits include less frequent dosing, improved therapeutic control, and fewer adverse effects; as a result, patients are more receptive to these dose forms. Numerous commercialized controlled release products have been made possible by advancements in polymer material science, particle engineering design, manufacturing, and nanotechnology. Several more are now in pre-clinical and clinical research.
